Newgate clocks has dozens of timepieces on display at its Oswestry headquarters, all needing resetting as we lose an hour overnight.

The official change in time comes at 1am on Sunday morning when all clocks and watches should be wound on an hour to 2am.

Clocks on church towers across the county will be getting altered and one of the most unusual clocks, the Telford time machine in Telford shopping centre, will also be reset.

This year will be even busier that usual at Newgate, which recently branched out to launch its own watch collection which is making its debut appearance at Baselworld in Switzerland, the world’s largest watch and jewellery trade show, running until March 27.

Newgate Watches is exhibiting at the show alongside luxury brands Rolex, Omega, Gucci and Dior and the most opulent of watches from the likes of Hublot and Greubel Forsey retailing in excess of £1.5 million.

Newgate, founded by husband and wife team Jim and Chloe Read, decided to design their own, more modest but fashionable watch collection after the couple struggled to find watches to wear themselves.

They said: “With over 20 years of experience in creating our clocks, we knew we could do a great job of making watches. So, then the question was just - why not?”
