Firefighters spent almost two and a half hours battling the blaze in the roof of a detached home in Bourton.

The fire broke out at 11.59am today and crews from Much Wenlock, Bridgnorth, Telford, Shrewsbury and Church Stretton were called to the scene.

Using three hose jets, one main jet, a covering jet and wearing breathing apparatus, they were able to put out the fire by 2.25pm.

A spokeswoman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue service said the fire was contained to the roof space and that one person had been treated by the ambulance service for shock.
