The front panel of the machine allowing people to pay, or use a key, to access the toilets in St Johns Street, Low Town, has been ripped off the wall.

Ray Hulse, trustee for Low Town Action Group, said he noticed the latest vandalism attack at the weekend.

He said the vandalism was becoming a weekly occurrence and has called for better security measures at the site.

Mr Hulse said one solution could be to make the public toilets free to use again.

He said: "It needs a CCTV camera covering it and a spotlight.

"The camera there covers the car park, not that corner of the public toilets.

"I'm really angry. It means disabled people are unable to use the toilet, parents can't use it to change their babies' nappies."

He said he noticed the vandalism on Saturday afternoon.

Mr Hulse said: "It costs 20p or if you are disabled you can enter with a key.

"The box has been ripped off the wall. It seems to be happening every week.

"It is rather annoying that we are supposed to be a tourist town and the people who come here can't use the public toilets. The next nearest ones are at Severn Park.

"It might be the answer for the toilets to be free to use."

He said he had reported the vandalism to Bridgnorth Town Council.

Anne Wilson, town clerk for Bridgnorth Town Council, said: "Security of the toilets is good. It's unfortunate it has been broken into again.

"We will look at what measures we can take and work with contractors to improve things."
