Letter: Report didn’t do justice to wind turbine meeting
I attended the meeting regarding wind turbine plans at Oswestry which was very wide ranging and to the point. Your report failed to do it justice.
Many people in Mid Wales and West Shropshire will be affected and their lifestyles and livelihoods put in jeopardy if this scheme goes ahead.
There will be major implications of the Mid Wales Turbine scheme, on the landscape, the local economy and how it will spoil the enjoyment of all those from the West Midlands and further afield who visit this beautiful area for peace and quiet.
Please use your influence to support the campaign against this monstrous despoliation of this glorious area of countryside. It must not happen.

It's a newspaper, not a campaign leaflet.

Wind turbines? If that's all that worries you in this day and age then I envy you.
I'm more worried about the parlous state the NHS will be in by the time these things have been built. I'd rather the Star used the 'influence' you have assigned to it, on matters effecting a broader spectrum of the local population. Giant windmills are hardly the stuff of nightmares.
The writer of the letter could always consider moving to somewhere they arent building windmills?
matt
why do the turbines bring out the NIMBY nature in people so much?
I sincerely understand if a high level security convicted murderer regeneration institution was built near by or a smelly manure production plant that freaked the locals out.. but a wind turbine?
I consider myself to be an understanding soul, but I would dearly like the writer of the letter to explain his bizarre and spectacular comment accusing the poor windmills of altering "lifestyles and livelihoods".
I drive around Europe lots for my job. Seeing hundreds of wind turbines on the hills in Germany is a beautiful thing. Hardly a "monstrous despoliation of this glorious area of countryside."
