Letter: Care situation now at crisis point and the Government owes an explanation

I have submitted many letters regarding the continuing demise of the standards of care in this country for many years.

I make no apology for doing so again or, for continuing to pursue this matter further, as the deeper I become involved, the more I suspect, that the government must have a 'hidden agenda'.

Otherwise, how can it justify the ongoing campaign of silence, relating to this crucial issue?

The seriousness of this situation, is now beyond dispute, highlighted daily by a broad section of the media and challenged vigorously by well known and highly respected national support agencies, such as Age UK, Care UK, The Nuffield Trust the National Carers Association and many others.

All of whom recognise that health care, social care and mental health care, are now beyond cause for serious concern and have now reached crisis point almost to the point of no return.

The constant failures on the part of the Government to even acknowledge its seriousness is now becoming an insult to the intelligence of the general public, to whom it is all blindingly obvious and beyond reason to expect us to accept that they are right and the rest of us, are wrong.

We all appreciate of course, that finances are limited at present however, it would appear, that vast amounts of money can always be found for pet projects such as HS2, while thousands of sick, injured and vulnerable people wait in A&Es, on stretchers in hospital corridors, in GP waiting rooms, or at home, awaiting treatment.

Such situations, bring shame on the Government of a so-called civilized country, who can promise nothing other than 'jam tomorrow' but nothing today, in order to save hundreds of thousands of people from unnecessary pain, suffering and in some cases, premature loss of life.

The Government owes us an explanation for this.
