Mariamma Joseph Kailath worked at Hatton Court Care Home, on Whitchurch Road, in Cold Hatton, near Telford.

She was appearing before the council to respond to accusations that she administered an unauthorised dose of 80mg of furosemide to the resident on four separate occasions in May.

Furosemide is used to help patients who suffer from water retention.

She was removed from her position at the care home on July 17.

The hearing was expected to start today at the Nursing and Midwifery Council's headquarters, in London, and will continue until this Friday.
