Spate of fires in Shrewsbury town centre overnight

Five rubbish bins were set on fire in Shrewsbury last night in a spate of fires.

Firefighters were called to tackle the fires in The Quarry, High Street, Claremont Bank, Mardol and Mardol Head all between midnight and 1am this morning.

The fire in the High Street was involving a wheelie bin.

Firefighters used one hose reel jet in each case to extinguish the fire.

Elsewhere three wheelie bins were set on fire in Malinslee, Telford on Thursday evening.

Two fire crews were sent out from Telford Central to put out the flames using breathing apparatus and a hosereel jet.

They arrived at 4.42pm and left the scene around 25 minutes later.
