Body found near Bridgnorth is that of missing farmer Andrew Green

DNA results have confirmed the body found near Bridgnorth last month is missing farmer Andrew Green.

Mr Green had been missing since June last year, and a body was found near to where he was last seen, at his home in Yew Tree Farm, in Chorley, on March 10.

Mr Green's sister Sam Green said: "Our family is very sad to learn it's Andrew and we all miss him a lot."

A post on the Missing Andrew Green Facebook page said: "Good evening ladies and gentleman, with a very heavy heart and great sadness, DNA results have confirmed that the male found on the March 10 is Andrew, official formal confirmation will take place at the opening of the official inquest, Julie, Edward and Andrew's sisters Sam and Nicola send you their thanks and gratitude for the support and help you have all given whilst Andrew was missing from home.

West Mercia Police has confirmed that the body has been formally identified as Mr Green.

Spokeswoman for West Mercia Police, Anne Tugwell, said: "Mr Green's family has been kept updated throughout the process and is aware of the test results."

A number of high profile searches have taken place for the 33-year-old after he went missing.

About 70 people turned out to take part in a large-scale hunt for Mr Green in September, and covered more than 200 acres though their efforts.

An inquest will open on April 25.
