Casualty airflifted to hospital after crash near Oswestry

One casualty has been airlifted to hospital after a crash at Upper Hengoed, near Oswestry, this evening.

Firefighters from Oswestry and Wellington, including and operations officer, were sent to the scene of the two vehicle crash at about 5.40pm.

Firefighters had to remove the roof of a vehicle to access the casualties.

One person was taken to hospital by air ambulance and another by land ambulance.

Their condition is not yet known,

Elsewhere two people had to be cut free from a car crash on the A5 at Oswestry.

The crash at Whittington roundabout involved two cars and closed the road just before 3.30pm.

Two fire engines were sent from Oswestry to free one male and one female who had become trapped in the one car.

They were freed using Holmatro equipment.

An ambulance and police were also sent to the scene.
