Investigations continue after robber wearing balaclava tried to raid security van in Telford

Investigations are continuing over an attempted security van robbery at a supermarket petrol station in Telford.

West Mercia Police said that as the G4S worker left the forecourt a car, believed to be a blue Citroen Xsara, drove at him during the incident which happened at about 8.40am on Wednesday.

The force said the guard spotted the car and retreated into the petrol station, in Arleston.

Spokesman Daniel Butler said: "Police suspect that this was done with intent as it is reported that the car was parked near the petrol station for up to an hour before the attempt."

The Citroen was believed to have been driven along Whitchurch Drive in the direction of Ketley Brook traffic island.
