An ambulance and two fire crews, from Bishop's Castle and Clun, were called to a report that a person was trapped after an accident in Clun, near to Blackwell Cottage, at about 7.40am.

The collision involved two vans, one of which had overturned and come to rest in middle of the road.

No one was found to be trapped or seriously hurt on arrival but the road was closed while emergency services dealt with the scene.

Fire crews made the vehicles safe and administered oxygen to one man suffering chest pains.

Murray MacGregor, speaking for West Midlands Ambulance Service: "The van rolled onto its offside, the driver, in his 30s, had a sealtbelt on, got out on his own and was walking when we arrived.

"He had a bit of neck pain and pain in his lower right leg. He was given pain relief and taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital as a precaution."

Traffic on the A488 between Acton and Knighton has been affected, police say.
