Bridie Lloyd said the realisation that the former Royal Bengal building in Oswestry had been turned into a drugs factory had been distressing.

She made the find earlier this week.

Miss Lloyd said the corner building in Beatrice Street had been home to herself and her father, well-known businessman, Arob Ali who died in 2012. It was a popular takeaway.

"He would be absolutely disgusted with what has happened," she said. "My father was a good man, he worked hard to open his business.

"This was the home that I shared with my father but I have not had possession of it since December 2014."

Miss Lloyd is currently involved in civil proceedings over the ownership of the building. She said she gained entry on Tuesday before contacting police.

She said: "The place was utterly unrecognisable when I pulled back a curtain. There must have been 300 plants in different stages of being grown."

Anne Tugwell, of West Mercia Police, said: "On Tuesday West Mercia Police responded to a report of suspicious activity at an address in Beatrice Street, Oswestry.

"Officers attended and found a number of cannabis plants at various stages of growth. A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis."

The teenager appeared at Telford Magistrates Court and was remanded in youth detention to return for an interim remand hearing on November 2.
