The road will be closed from 9pm tonight to 6am on Tuesday.

The spillage was reported to Highways England at 6.49am this morning.

The road was initially closed, then partially reopened and will be closed again this evening for overnight resurfacing works.

Neville Smith, spokesman for Highways England said: "We tried to clear it at 7.37am and then called a hydro blaster to clear it.

"Lane two will continue to run on the slip road until this evening when it will fully close for resurfacing.

"The overnight closure could be earlier but it could be later, we don't know yet."
