Man seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle in Shrewsbury

A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle in Shrewsbury.

The man, believed to be in his 50s, was hit on Kennedy Road in the Kingsland area of the town shortly after 10am this morning and the road was closed while investigations took place.

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: "Emergency services were called at approximately 10:03am today (Tuesday, 27 September 2016) to reports of a serious road traffic collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian on Kennedy Road, Shrewsbury.

"The incident involved a white Vauxhall which has come into collision with a pedestrian.

"A man in his 50s is believed to have received serious injuries and was taken by land ambulance to Stoke Hospital.

"Investigations are still on-going to establish the circumstances which lead to the incident."

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to please contact West Mercia Police on 101 quoting 173s of September 27, 2016.

Elsewhere two lanes on the Emstrey Island were also closed after a separate crash which is also caused delays.
