300 bales of hay on fire at Mid Wales farm

Firefighters were still tackling a blaze which started in the early hours involving 300 bales of hay at a Mid Wales farm.

The fire, which is still burning at Old Hall Farm, Buttington, first started at about 4am today.

Firefighters have contained the blaze but are allowing it to burn out, and are expected to remain on site until tomorrow.

The A458 - the main road through the village - remains closed from Welshpool and will until at least later today, Mid and West Wales Fire Service have confirmed.

Five crews attended the blaze initially, however three remain there dampening down.

A spokeswoman for the fire service say nobody has been hurt as a result of the fire.
