M6 death crash: Tributes paid to Telford father-of-two Anthony Marston as investigations continue

More tributes have been paid to Telford dad Anthony Marston who died in a crash on the M6.

Mr Marston, 54, from Leegomery ,was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident between Junctions 10 and 10a on the northbound carriageway.

His family have paid tribute to him, saying he will be "deeply missed", while police are still trying to gather information about the circumstances that led to the crash.

In a statement issued through West Midlands Police, Mr Marston's family said: "Tony was a loving father to Laura and Luke and husband to Sue. He lived life to the full, he was one of life's original characters who will be deeply missed by all who knew him."

Mr Marston was a regular at the Queen's Head at Horton and landlady Tina Williams said many locals came together at the pub on Monday to share their memories of him.

She said: "He was a local at the pub, him and his family, and lots of regulars came in.

"Everyone is devastated, we were all in tears, the whole pub was in tears.

"He was a real spirit of the pub and we are devastated to have lost him."

Mr Marston was driving a white Mercedes E300 estate and had been towing a trailer loaded with a Peugeot Partner van along the M6 northbound.

The collision at about 3pm on Sunday, involved a heavy goods vehicle. The motorway remained closed for several hours while debris was cleared.

Another man involved in the crash was described as walking wounded and was treated for his injuries. The M6 was closed at Junction 10a near the M54 while specialist investigators examined the scene.

Sergeant Alan Wood, from the regional collision investigation unit, said: "Our thoughts remain with Mr Marston's family as we continue to piece together how he died."
