M6 reopens after crash left one man dead

The M6 has reopened close to the junction with the M54 after a horror smash which left one man dead.

The motorway reopened in the early hours but Highways England officials advised drivers that delays could remain into mid-morning.

One lane is closed while repairs continue.

Officials were also liaising with the organisers of V Festival held at Weston Park, in Stafford, over the weekend as festival-goers begin making their way home today.

Another man involved in the crash was described as walking wounded and has been treated for his injuries.

The relatives of the man who died have been informed.

The M6 was closed at junction 10a near the M54 while specialist investigators examined the scene for clues. CCTV was also currently being reviewed.

Highways England spokeswoman Sam Harris, said: "We will liaise with V Festival as it may impact some of the exodus. We will talk with V Festival to pass that message on."

Witnesses to the crash should call West Midlands Police on 101 quoting reference number 1400 of August 21.
