Police are appealing for information after a gift shop in the Ludlow Castle complex and a charity shop were broken into.

Thieves appeared to be targetting petty cash and charity boxes.

Cat Rescue Ludlow, in Old Street, was broken into overnight between last Thursday and Friday morning. Cash and a charity box were stolen.

On the same night a gift shop in the Ludlow Castle complex, in Castle Square, was also raided, with alarms activated at 12.10am.

Sonja Belchere, custodian manager at Ludlow Castle, said she could not comment on the burglary, but the matter was in the hands of the police.

At 1.33am on the same night a business compound in Shrewsbury Road, Craven Arms, was broken into.

Damage was done to doors and a search was made but there were no reports of thefts.

The burglaries follow one where thieves were caught on CCTV breaking in to the Charlton Arms Hotel, on Ludford Bridge, on July 5, again targetting charity boxes and petty cash.

Anyone with information on the break-ins is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101.
