The driver of the Nissan, a man in his fifties, was pronounced dead at the scene.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Murray MacGregor said: "The middle aged man from one vehicle was rapidly extricated, but sadly despite advanced life support, it was not possible to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

"The 27 year old driver of the other vehicle had suffered a pelvic injury along with knee, ankle and seat belt injuries.

"He was immobilised and had a pelvic binder put in place before being taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham."

Two ambulances, a paramedic area support officer and a trauma doctor were sent to the scene.

Officers investigating the incident would like to hear from anyone who witnessed it or saw either vehicle, and the manner in which they were being driven, before the collision occurred.

Anyone with information is asked to contact West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident 859S of July 19.
