The major blaze, which was caused by an electrical fault in a car, damaged the multi-storey car park and left it closed to visitors. Telford & Wrekin Council originally said that it would be closed for about a week, but extended the timeline to a month following further investigation.

Three cars were destroyed in the blaze, which happened on June 18.

Recovery crews on scene after the blaze

As well as the damage to vehicles, there was damage to the car park's lighting and electrical wiring, meaning a number of spaces are unusable until repairs are made.

Shoppers were left stranded as smoke billowed from the building during the fire.

About 15 firefighters were called to tackle the blaze, which closed roads around the shopping centre. The third-floor blaze could be seen from outside the building and smoke damage left the exterior wall charred.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said at the time that it believed the fire was started accidentally.
