Derelict train carriage severely damaged in blaze near Welshpool

A derelict train carriage has been severely damaged in a fire in Welshpool.

The carriage and a portable office building at Pool Quay, in Powys, were both caught in the blaze this morning.

Four crews from Welshpool, Llanfair and Llanfyllin were sent to the scene of the fire at 11.42am.

A spokeswoman for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue said: "We were called to reports of a fire involving one disused rail carriage used for storage and one portable office building. They are both severely damaged.

"Four crews were in attendance. They have used four breathing apparatus, two jets and two appliances."

Firefighters are still tackling the fire.
