A primary school child was stuck on a bus outside a school for more than an hour and a half, while another youngster became trapped in a wardrobe in a house just metres from Shropshire's fire headquarters.

The first child became stuck at Lacon Childe School in Cleobury Mortimer yesterday afternoon. The alarm was raised just before 2pm.

Two fire crews from Bridgnorth were called out and found that the child, believed to be between seven and eight years old, was trapped with an arm wedged between the coach seat and window.

The youngster was released by firefighters using specialist small gear by 3.37pm.

A fire crew from Shrewsbury was then called out to a house in nearby St Michael's Gate at 3.30pm yesterday.

The firefighters arrived to find that a child was stuck inside a wardrobe.

They were able to release the child by 3.55pm using small gear.
