Fire at hotel near Oswestry

A fire broke out in the laundry room at a hotel near Oswestry overnight.

Firefighters were called out to attend a blaze at the Lion Quays, Weston Rhyn, shortly before 10.50pm yesterday.

Two crews from Oswestry attended, as well as an operations officer.

A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said a quantity of linen was involved in the fire on the ground-floor.

Nobody was injured in the blaze.

Crews used breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to tackle the fire.

Positive pressure ventilation was also used to ventilate the building.

Crews left the scene at 11.15pm.
