Police called over girl on roof of Shrewsbury hotel

Emergency crews were called when a teenage girl was seen on the roof of a Shrewsbury hotel today

Police attended the town's Premier Inn on Smithfield Road at around 11.15am after concerned members of the public reported the girl was on the building's roof.

Police officers escorted the girl back down from the roof via an internal staircase.

Members of Shropshire Fire and Rescue also attended but their services were not required.

A fire service spokesman said: "We had a call at 11.13am that a girl was on the roof of the Premier Inn.

"By the time we reached the scene she had been taken off the roof and had been taken back downstairs."
