Emergency services were called to the two-storey semi-detached property in Howle, near Newport.

A man and a woman managed to get out of the property before the arrival of emergency services, and were checked over by paramedics before being discharged at the scene.

Firefighters from Hodnet, Market Drayton and Newport were called to deal with the fire shortly before last night, but it was out prior to their arrival.
