Man taken to hospital after Shrewsbury crash

A man was taken to hospital after two cars crashed in to each other this morning.

The accident happened on the A488 Radbrook Road in Shrewsbury at the junction with Oakfield Road, at just after 10.30am.

One man was taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital as a precaution and the driver of the other car was treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries.

Both vehicles, a Mercedes car and a VW Golf were damaged in the accident.

Police were on scene from 10.44am until midday.

The accident caused traffic to back up while the emergency services treated the injured.

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: "At 10.44am we were called to reports that two cars, a Mercedes and a VW Golf had been involved in a collision. Paramedics also attended and the occupants of the cars were treated for minor injuries only. A male was taken to hospital as a precaution. The police left the scene at 11.56am."
