An ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with a trauma doctor on board were called to the B5067 close to the war memorial at Leaton near Shrewsbury after the accident at 1.15pm.

The road was blocked for several hours.

A Shropshire Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: "We were called to the incident at Leaton at 1.25pm. There had been a road traffic collision between a pick-up truck which was towing a cattle trailer and a motorcyclist.

"No one was trapped but we made the vehicles safe. The police, ambulance, the Midlands Air Ambulance and fire service were all in attendance."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "When ambulance staff arrived they found an off-duty colleague administering aid to the motorcyclist, an 18-year-old man, who had come off his bike after colliding with a trailer being pulled by a 4×4.

"Due to the condition of the biker, ambulance staff and the doctor administered advanced trauma care at the scene. Once the man was in a more stable condition, he was then airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital."
