Dog is rescued from slurry pit

A dog was rescued from a slurry pit in the Shropshire countryside after becoming trapped.

The alarm was raised after the dog got into difficulties at Reabrook, near Minsterley, shortly after 11.30am yesterday. Firefighters spent almost an hour retrieving the dog, and used an inflatable raft to guide the animal to safety.

And firefighters were called when grass and undergrowth off Southwater Way in Telford caught fire shortly before 2pm on Saturday. A patio fire was also dealt with in Corve Street, Ludlow, on Saturday.
