Pritchard opposes mosques’ calls to prayer
Wednesday 5th May 2010, 8:06AM BST.
Wrekin’s Conservative candidate Mark Pritchard has said he would vote against any plans to allow mosques being able to broadcast calls to prayer from loudspeakers.
Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg supports the process, known as muezzin, paving the way for the call to happen at towns and cities across Britain – including Wellington.
But Mr Pritchard said if he was re-elected he would not back the plans.
He said: “Clearly, we need to be tolerant of all faiths, but those people who want to live under all things Islamic are free to emigrate. Tolerance is a two way street and that means people of all faiths recognising Britain’s deep Judeo-Christian culture, traditions, and heritage.”

After a few sleepless nights in Muslim countries due to the loud and early call to prayers. I have to agree with the conservative candidate on this one.

Having worked in Riyadh for many years, the five times a day calls to prayer are not really an issue!
But getting something done ….

Judeo-Christian culture? I would support the separation of the church and the State. How many will identify themselves as christian or non religious in the next Census?
