Twins Liv and Charlotte Nicoll managed to find out their exam results together despite being in different hemispheres

Liv and Charlotte Nicoll both studied for their exams at Wrekin College in Wellington, but Liv has just started a gap year at Pymble Ladies’ College in Sydney, Australia.

The 18-year-olds, who are from Wellington, video-called each other as their A-level results came in last week, with a nine-hour time difference between the two.

Charlotte picked up two As and a B and confirmed her place at Warwick University, while Liv achieved an A and two Bs and confirmed her place at Surrey University to read English.

Their mother Andy Nicoll said she was delighted to see them both do so well, adding: “They have worked hard to be individuals and Wrekin College has been particularly good at supporting this.

Travelling

“It doesn’t surprise me they are picking up results in two very different parts of the world.

“I am so proud of them both. It was a very emotional morning in our house.

“They were so happy and upset at the same time and probably did need that special sister hug from each other but thanks to modern technology they could enjoy the next best thing.”

Charlotte hopes to be a curator and plans on travelling and completing a ski season after finishing her degree. As part of her year at one of Australia’s top schools, Liv will be a gap assistant doing various tasks including classroom assistant, boarding house duties and helping out with English and art. She will also be travelling during the school holidays.
