Mark Purves, aged 31, appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday to have his three-year jail sentence formally activated after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

He had twice missed his court appearance on February 8 and March 29 and was jailed for three years after being found guilty of burglary and a number of motoring offences during a trial in his absence.

Purves was found guilty of a charge of burglary at a property in Canderley Way, Lawley.

The incident took place on September 2015.

He also faced an offence of taking and driving away a vehicle without consent.

After West Mercia Police issued an appeal for his whereabouts, Purves, of Coachwell Close, was arrested and taken to court. The judge formally activated the sentence imposed on Purves.
