Shrewsbury newsagents worker charged over £100,000 Lotto cards theft

A former assistant manager of a Shrewsbury newsagents has been charged with stealing National Lottery scratch cards and online draws worth nearly £100,000.

Tomas Wilcockson, of Barleyfield, Cherry Orchard, Shrewsbury, appeared at Telford Magistrates Court.

The 30-year-old is charged with theft between February 2014 and July 2015 when he was the assistant manager of News Express newsagents, now known as First Stop Column Ltd, in London Road, Shrewsbury.

He appeared in court wearing a blue suit and only spoke to confirm his name, address and date of birth.

Wilcockson made no indication of plea.

The case was committed to Shrewsbury Crown Court where he will appear on May 2.

He was released on unconditional bail until the hearing.
