Man, 33, in court over Shropshire armed robberies

A man today appeared in court in connection with armed robberies in Shropshire.

Mark Stephen Gillon, aged 33, of no fixed abode, appeared at Telford Magistrates Court.

He is accused of two counts of armed robbery at Lloyds Bank in High Street, Madeley, on March 20 and at the One Stop convenience store , in Shrewsbury Road, Market Drayton, on March 24.

Gillon is also accused of attempted armed robbery at Barclays Bank on the Square in Shifnal on March 24.

He faces three further charges of possessing an intimation firearm on March 20 and 24; theft of a car on March 24 and theft of two number plates on March 25.

Gillon did not indicate a plea to any of the charges.

The case was committed to Shrewsbury Crown Court where Gillon is due to appear on May 2.

He was represented in court by Mr Paul Nicholas, who made no bail application.

Gillon was remanded in custody.
