Daniel Suter breached an indefinite restraining order preventing him from contacting the woman when he carried out the attack last November.

He pleaded guilty to offences of criminal damage, possession of a bladed article, and breach of a restraining order at an earlier hearing.

Shrewsbury Crown Court heard how his victim had 40 missed calls on her phone before she eventually answered him.

Mr Dafydd Roberts, prosecuting, said Suter told her: "You are going to get it now".

"She said she looked out of her window and saw the defendant pushing a knife through the tyre. He looked up at her and smirked. All four tyres were slashed and had to be replaced at a cost of £300."

Miss Debra White, defending, said Suter, of Whitehouse Gardens, Ditherington, Shrewsbury, had already spent 103 days in custody since his arrest. He was made subject to the restraining order on March 23, 2015, following an incident involving the victim.

He has previous convictions including for violent disorder and grievous bodily harm.

Judge Jim Tindal said: "The reality of the situation is this. You are a violent person and you have been violent for a long time.

"You repeatedly commit offences, you repeatedly beat up people. I would have thought you learned your lesson 10 years ago when you were sent to prison. I suspect for you it is about being in control.

"For whatever reason you don't feel good about yourself," he added.

For the latest offences Suter, 30, was sentenced to a two-year community order, 35 rehabilitation activity days, and he must attend the probation building relationships programme.

Judge Tindal also told him that the restraining order will continue. He was released from custody.
