Businesses, offices and even two churches have been targeted by intruders after cash in recent weeks, with parish church St Laurence's now to install CCTV.

One suspect has been arrested after an attempt to break into a nursery in Lower Galdeford overnight between Thursday and Friday, and another after he was seen taking bottles of wine away after a break-in at a house in Fishmore on Friday.

The break-ins follow one at a dental surgery in New Road overnight between Wednesday and Thursday when doors and a cabinet were damaged and a safe and cash were taken.

The previous week St Laurence's Church was the victim of a break-in. Thieves smashed donation boxes and took petty cash from a till, as well as causing damage breaking into church offices.

The week before there was an attempted break-in at Ludlow Methodist Church.

Shaun Ward parish project director at St Laurence's Church urged business owners hit by burglaries to report them no matter how minor.

He said: "There are people that haven't reported break-ins because they think it's just one of those things.

"I've been trying to say to people 'make sure you report these things'.

"People might not realise it but they might have fingerprints on something of CCTV footage that could lead to a prosecution.

"We need to all work together as a community to stop this."

He said donations from well wishers since the burglary will go towards new security measures at the church including CCTV.
