Danny Suter, an elite fighter who was once ranked in the top 50 of the UK in the featherweight division for Mixed Martial Arts, walked free from court.

He had been due to face trial later this month on charges of wounding with intent, attempted wounding, causing actual bodily harm, possession of a knife and violent disorder.

The prosecution offered no evidence against Suter, of Whitehouse Gardens in Ditherington, Shrewsbury, when he appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court.

Recorder Anthony Lowe recorded formal not guilty verdicts on five charges after the court was told that leading witnesses in the case had failed to co-operate with police and did not attend an identification procedure.

The allegations relate to an incidents in Shrewsbury Road, Market Drayton, between September 17 and 20 last year. Also appearing before the court was Jason Butter, 28, of Maer Lane, Market Drayton, who denies a charge of wounding Dominic Sheridan with intent. He also denies attempting to wound Bradley Birch with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm on Nicholas Parton, possession of a garden fork and a charge of violent disorder.

His trial is due to start on November 22 and he was allowed bail and Recorder Lowe issued witness summonses for both Bradley Birch and Nicholas Parton.
