Colin Rees, 35, formerly of John Street, Shrewsbury, but now living at Birchwood Close, Arleston, Telford, was at Telford Magistrates Court accused of a raft of offences.

He is charged with making 3,397 indecent photographs of a child, with 498 at the most serious Category A, 622 at Category B and 2,277 at Category C.

Rees is also accused of distributing or sharing more than 300 indecent images with others between November 2012 and February this year, of which 25 were in the most serious category.

He also faces charges of possessing prohibited images of children and possessing extreme pornographic images involving animals.

District judge Mr Nigel Cadbury ruled the matter was so serious it had to be transferred to Shrewsbury Crown Court.

Rees was bailed to appear there on December 12, when it is expected he will enter pleas to the charges.
