Man seriously injured after being stabbed in 'targeted assault' in Telford

A 22-year-old man suffered serious injuries after being stabbed in Telford.

The assault, which left the man with stab wounds to his head, chest and leg, took place outside a property in Wantage, Woodside.

Police received a report of a man being stabbed at about 12.25am today.

Ambulance staff were also informed of the assault and the man was treated at the scene before being taken to the North Staffordshire Hospital where he is being treated for stab wounds and also for a collapsed lung.

His condition is said to be serious but stable and the injuries are not believed to be life threatening at this time.

The offender is believed to be a man in his 30s who was wearing black clothing.

Officers investigating the assault would like to hear from anyone who witnessed it or has any information about it.

Detective Sergeant Dafydd Jones, from Telford CID, said: "We believe that this was a targeted assault and would like to reassure members of the public that they are not in danger.

"We are following a number of leads but would like to hear from anyone who has information which would help us identify the offender."
