The 17-year-old, from the Much Wenlock area, had struck up a friendship with the boy who was under the age of 16.

District Judge Nigel Cadbury, at Telford Magistrates Court, sentenced the youth to a three-year sexual harm prevention order.

He also handed the teenager a two-year restraining order and 10-month referral order.

The court was told at a previous hearing that in September last year the younger boy's father called West Mercia Police saying his son had been sending sexually explicit photographs of himself to the defendant.

Mr Stephen Blower, prosecuting, said most of their communications took place over social media.

Mr Blower said the boy had received payment for a video he sent the defendant of himself committing a sexual act. Police seized the 17-year-old's computer equipment.

Officers found dozens of indecent photographs and videos ranging from category C to category A.

The court heard that category A images are the most serious kind involving penetration.

Mr Blower said not all of the photographs and videos showed the younger boy.

The 17-year-old youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had admitted six charges of making indecent photographs of a child at a previous court hearing.

The charges relate to more than 100 images or videos.

He also pleaded guilty to one count of causing a child to be involved in pornography and one charge of being in possession of 45 prohibited images of children.

The court was told there was no suggestion that the images or the video were ever shared with anyone or distributed.

The 17-year-old was also ordered to pay £150 costs by the courts.
