Shifnal man gets eight years in jail for child sex abuse

A Shifnal man has been jailed for eight years for sexually abusing a child.

Benjamin Howells, 32 of High Street, was jailed at Shrewsbury Crown Court.

It came after pleading guilty to seven charges, including sexual assault of a child under 13 and inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

Judge Peter Barrie sentenced Howells to eight years in prison, which he will serve half in custody before being released on licence.

On top of his licence period, Howells will also be on a year's post-release supervision.

He was also made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order by the judge.
