Shrewsbury shop assistant robbed in knife terror

A masked man armed with a knife forced a Shrewsbury shop assistant to hand over money in a night-time robbery.

Police say the robbery took place at a shop on Conway Drive, at around 8.30pm on Friday, September 30.

The robber, who was said to be wielding a "bladed object" is described as white, with a local accent, wearing a hat and a mask covering his face.

The shop assistant was not injured in the robbery.

Holly Claydon-Bevan of West Mercia Police appealed for any information which might help officers track the robber down.

She said: "At approximately 8.30pm on Friday, September 30, a man entered a shop on Conway Drive and demanded the store assistant to open the till. It's believed he was holding a bladed object.

"The shop assistant opened the till and the offender stole a quantity of cash.

"He then left the premises on foot and turned left out of the premises.

"The offender is described as a white man, aged between 35 to 40, approximately 6ft of a medium build. It's believed he spoke with a local accent and was wearing a hat and mask across his face.

"The shop assistant was not injured."

Police say they would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have any information, and they can call 101, quoting incident number 804S of September 30."
