Balaclava-wearing thug assaults two men in Telford burglary

Two men were assaulted in an aggravated burglary in Telford today by a man wearing a balaclava.

Police were called to a property in Bishopdale at around 11.40pm after receiving reports of an assault on two men, one in his 50s and the other in his 20s.

An unknown man gained entry to the property and demanded money, before proceeding to assault the two men with what is believed to be a blunt object.

Both victims received head injuries as a result of the assault and were taken to hospital for treatment.

The attacker described as black, about 6ft tall and of slightly above average build. He was wearing black tracksuit bottoms with a black or blue bomber-style jacket and was also wearing a black, thick-wool balaclava.

The man is thought to have left the property on foot.

Detective Sergeant Dafydd Jones of West Mercia Police said: "Firstly, I would like to reassure the local community that we are treating this as an isolated incident.

"Officers are working to swiftly identify the suspect and we would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

"If you saw anything suspicious at the time or saw a man matching the description above, please contact police on 101 and quote incident number 825s of 2 October."
