Police and staff at BamBoo Wine Bar in Bridge Street are appealing for information about the two men.

Manager James McComb said the pair were "more of a nuisance than anything" when they went in last night.

He said: "It was a fairly normal Thursday night, we had a few members of staff in, most people were there for food.

"These two came in for a couple of drinks."

Mr McComb said the pair hung around the bar for a while before making their way into the cellar where they tried to steal bottles of spirits.

There they were disturbed by a member of staff.

Mr McComb added: "He is fine, he has been in the bar trade for many years and he knew they were trying to provoke him.

"When he confronted them, they knocked the glasses off his face and waited for him to make the first move, which is what these people do.

"He stood his ground and at that point they ran off."

The pair are believed to have been seen later that evening driving around Bridgnorth and visiting other businesses.

West Mercia Police spokeswoman Holly Claydon-Bevan said: "We were called at 8.55pm last night to reports of a robbery at a premises on Bridge Street, Bridgnorth.

"At around 8.37pm, a man walked through the bar and entered a storage area where he was joined by a second male. They removed a bottle of alcohol.

"A member of staff was then assaulted by the suspects. Both men left the premises in the direction of the Cartway.

"It's believed the suspects had been drinking in the premises with two women prior to the incident. The suspects are believed to be two Asian men."

Anyone who witnessed the offence or has any information, should call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 0757S of August 25. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or at crimestoppers-uk.org
