Cannabis seized outside Shirehall in Shrewsbury
Cannabis and scales were seized by police after Shropshire Council reported concerns about drug use outside Shirehall.
Shrewsbury's Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team had been asked to carry out patrols in the area due to concerns about drug taking during the weekends.
Following the request police came across a group of men while on a routine patrol on Saturday and could smell what they believed was cannabis.
One man admitted possessing cannabis, which was seized by officers along with a grinder, and a pair of small scales that were found in the area.
Police said the man's details were taken and he will be dealt with at a later date.
A spokesman for the force said: "It is important to send out a positive message that this kind of anti social behaviour will not be tolerated and will be dealt with in a proactive manner. Patrols will continue in the area to deter further incidents."
