Christopher Cummings was involved in a collision on the A529 at the Sweet Appletree crossroads, near Hinstock, that led to the death of Mary Roberts.

Ms Roberts, from Market Drayton, was a passenger in a silver Renault Megane that was involved in the crash on May 5 last year.

Cummings, 43, of Halifax Drive, Leegomery, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving at a hearing at Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday.

The case was adjourned and Cummings was granted bail. He will appear on June 23 for sentencing.

The Renault was travelling towards Market Drayton, approaching the crossroads, when it was involved in a collision with the small skip lorry at about 3.45pm.

The Renault's driver, an 81-year-old man, was taken to North Staffordshire Hospital with significant injuries. Cummings suffered minor injuries.
