The 42-year-old man told a member of the door staff at The Source Vodka Bar in Barker Street, Shrewsbury, that he had a bomb shortly after 2am on Friday.

The building was evacuated, but nothing was found following a search by officers.

A West Mercia Police spokeswoman said the man was arrested on suspicion of making a bomb threat and was in custody for questioning.

Mike Page, manager of the bar, said: "With what's happening in the world today, we could not afford to ignore that sort of thing.

"He hadn't said where he had left it so everywhere had to be searched. It caused a lot of inconvenience for everyone."
