Daniel Johnson, of Manor Place, Higher Heath, Whitchurch, was given a 20-month jail term suspended for two years and ordered to do 150 hours of unpaid work earlier this year after admitting two charges of sexual activity with a child – one involving a 13-year-old when he was 15, the other a 15-year-old.

At Shrewsbury Crown Court, Judge Tracy Lloyd-Nesling, was told that an order was also imposed forbidding contact with any girl under the age of 18.

However, Johnson contacted a 17-year-old girl through private messaging on Facebook. The police were called.

Mr Peter Cooke, for Johnson, said that after the initial court case Johnson was ostracised by his friends and had no-one to turn to.

He said Johnson had been a friend in the past of the 17-year-old and simply contacted her because he needed a friend.

Mr Cooke said Johnson had been remanded in custody for the last month and the experience had terrified him. He said that his client's mother was currently ill in hospital.

Judge Lloyd Nestling ordered that Johnson carry out 40 extra hours of unpaid work in the community.
