Police said that the 22-year-old victim had been walking along Haybridge Avenue, Hadley, when an unknown man approached him and started talking to him.

The man suddenly pulled out a knife on the victim and demanded he give him his belongings.

The victim quickly decided to hand over his mobile phone – a Blackberry 8250 – and about £15 in cash.

The offender then made off with these items along Haybridge Avenue.

The robbery happened between 5.15pm and 5.30pm on Thursday and police are appealing for anyone who may have been passing in a car or walking by to get in touch.

Chris Ammonds, a spokesman for West Mercia Police, said: "We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident or anyone who believes they may recognise the man shown in the e-fit image we have released today.

"In addition to the e-fit, the victim has also described the suspect as being Asian, in his mid 20s, as being around 5ft 7in and of medium to heavy build.

"He is also described as wearing jeans, old Nike trainers and a black 'Barbour' style jacket.

"The victim said he thought it may have only been a small knife because he could only see the blade.

"However, he felt threatened enough to hand over his phone and a £10 and £5 note."

Anyone with information about the incident, or the identity of the offender, should call 101 or 0300 333 3000, quoting incident number 502S 250413.
