Man left injured by Telford footpath attackers

A man was left with serious facial injuries after he was set upon by two attackers while walking along an isolated footpath in Telford.

The victim, a 48-year-old man, was pushed to the floor and kicked repeatedly by two men on the footpath between Sutherland Road and Whitchurch Drive in Wellington. He was able to raise the alarm at nearby Wrekin College after his two attackers ran off.

Police said the man suffered a suspected fracture to his left eye socket, a laceration to his right eyelid and a graze to his right wrist in the attack, which happened between 8.30pm and 9.15pm yesterday.

The victim described the attackers as appearing to be of Asian origin and of average height and average build.

Officers appealed for witnesses to call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
