Victoria Woolford was said to have used 'excessive self defence' after two man came into the bedroom she shared with boyfriend Aubrey Blick.

She was jailed for 14 months, of which she will serve half, after admitting the wounding on July 16 last year.

Wolverhampton Crown Court heard a tenant believed kitchen equipment had been thrown out by Mr Blick, after a row over the state of the kitchen in Hart Road, Wolverhampton.

The intruder started to scuffle with Mr Blick, Mr Harpreet Sandhu, prosecuting said, he burst into the bedroom of both the defendant and Mr Blick.

The tenant's friend, however, was the eventual victim of the wounding, having also gone into the bedroom.

Mr Sandhu said: "The tenant went into the bedroom, angry, without knocking and lunged at Mr Blick. His friend followed him in to protect him. The friend was involved in a scuffle and felt a sharp pain in his back."

Mr Sandhu added Woolford, 36, now of Seven Hills Place, Telford, had pleaded guilty on the first day of an earlier trial.

Mr Nayan Patel, defending, said she struck the intruder 'out of fear'.
